If you’ve been drinking coffee for several years now, or even if you’ve never had coffee in your life, you’ve probably pondered — Hm, I wonder what coffee is the most caffeinated. Enter stage left — Death Wish Coffee.

How much caffeine does it actually have? On average, Death Wish Coffee contains about 200 mg of caffeine per cup! To put that in perspective, a regular cup of joe contains between 90 and 110 mg per cup.

Our Honest Take On Death Wish Coffee

Bags of Death Wish Whole Bean Coffee

Our Rating:

4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

In conducting our review, we tried Death Wish Coffee in three distinct ways. Why? Depending on the origin and the roasting method, different brewing methods will change what the coffee tastes like, how strong it is, and even how acidic it is!

We are testing for a couple of things that they claim in the description of their coffee:

  • Taste smooth, never bitter flavors with subtle notes of cherry and chocolate
  • Low in acidity without taking away any strength or flavor
  • If this is not the strongest cup of coffee you’ve had, we’ll provide a refund, no questions asked

Method 1: Drip

Because most people will be brewing Death Wish Coffee in a drip coffee maker, we decided this would be the most important test! Just to note, we don’t have one of those expensive drip coffee makers, we’re using one we picked up on Amazon for less than $50 (no need to go overboard if you’re just starting).

Honestly, I expected acidity and bitterness from this roast. However, I am pleasantly surprised by how the smooth it actually is, despite the high caffeine content! The only criticism I have with using the drip coffee maker is that the subtle flavors were lost during the brewing process.

Method 2: Siphon

We can’t help but be a little bit Bougie when giving Death Wish Coffee a test drive and the siphon is nothing but Bougie!

The slight increase in effort yielded a much better cup of coffee! The siphon brought out a strong chocolate taste with a hint of cherry — delicious! I did this test all in one sitting, but the siphon cup also felt to be the most caffeinated.

Method 3: K-Cups

Only a handful of brands put their coffee in K-Cups. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Death Wish offers a pod option! If you haven’t looked into pod brewers, check out our article!

Our verdict? For K-Cups, this is a great option! We don’t recommend drinking it black, but a bit of sugar turned this into a pleasant (and convenient) pod option!

Our Verdict

Death Wish coffee delivers on all of its promises! This is a great roast for anyone looking for low acidity and a delicious chocolatey taste to go. It’ll give you the kick in the rear you need in the more, or your money back!

How Strong Is Death Wish Coffee?

With just over twice the amount of caffeine per cup, Death Wish Coffee packs quite a punch! If you’re like me, I normally drink several cups of coffee per day. Is it a game changer? Well, that depends. If you only drink one cup of coffee in the morning, you’ll definitely feel the difference! We recommend trying a little bit less than one cup to start.

Is Death Wish Coffee Dangerous?

No, it’s not! If you’re sensitive to caffeine, we don’t recommend guzzling a couple cups of Death Wish. Try half a cup at first just to see how it affects you. Remember, everyone reacts a differently!
